14/48: The World's Quickest Theater Festival, Jan. 5 & 6

Happy New Year all! After wrapping up one show in December, I'm very excited to be diving right into another, albeit in a totally different way. I will be performing (for my first time! One weekend only!) in the extravagantly crazy 14/48 festival this coming January. For those of you unfamiliar with 14/48, here's the gist: a bunch of playwrights, directors, designers, and performers get together Thursday night to pick a theme; the playwrights write all night to deliver 7 brand-new never-before-seen one-act plays to the rehearsal room the next day; the directors and actors are randomly assigned shows and rehearse all day (while the designers design sets, costumes, and lights and the musicians prepare a supporting soundtrack); and at 8:00pm, 7 world-premier plays are performed for the public (plus there's a lot of booze involved.) Even crazier? We do a second performance at 10:30pm, and then do the whole thing over again the next day with 7 brand-new shows.

The performances are often hilarious, sometimes beautifully poignant, sometimes a total hot mess, but always sure to entertain, and the performers and creative teams include some of the most talented, fearless, and professional artists in town. I'll be performing just for the first weekend, but if you like what you see you should come back to check out the new lineup of artists the following week. I'm so pumped to join this wild ride, and I hope you will too!
